Why a Donut?

The Donut Education Model is a visual framework for learning that serves as the ideological underpinning of Donut Education. Its dimensions and supporting levels motivate every education and training project we take on.The Donut Education Model was inspired by Doughnut Economics, a holistic model of sustainability. We use the informal spelling of 'donut' as a nod to our dedication to providing open-access resources for educators and learners.The model is comprised of eight research-backed dimensions that support learning in a variety of environments.Eight Dimensions of the Donut Education Model are supported by a Macro Level, with a focus on support at the institutional level, and a Micro Level, which concentrates on the individual, learner level.The Macro Level of the Donut details organizational best practices for schools, universities, corporations, and any institution involved in education and training.The Micro Level includes personal support at the individual level, supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners of all ages.Donut Education's Eight Dimensions are:
